I’m thinking of a psalm. This particular psalm is one David wrote. In this psalm he used numerous word pictures to help him formulate his prayer to the Lord.
From the pictures above, I am wondering if you are able to figure out which psalm I’m referring to.
I can’t give it all away, but I’m willing to give you some hints.
- Key words in this prayer of David’s are: “blot,” “wash,” “cleanse,” “hyssop,” and “snow.”
- This psalm is the same number as Lew Wayburn will be at his next birthday.
- This psalm could be captioned, “Murderer and adulterer repents; welcomed back by God.”
Once you find that psalm, consider giving it a slow-read, taking time to visualize each word picture (there are a bunch more! did you see the one about bones?).
As you work through David’s prayer, visualize his words and word pictures as referring to your own transgressions. And then as you reflect, picture your own failures and sins blotted out… washed… and cleansed.
Our year verse begins, “Consecrate yourselves….” An important part of consecration is being cleansed.
May you know His cleansing today.
