Peacemaker

Peacemaker

In 1873 the Colt Peacemaker revolver was developed for the US Cavalry to help tame the Wild West. Unfortunately, outlaws wielded them also.

In 1948 the US Air Force put the Convair B36 bomber into service. It, too, was called the Peacemaker. It had sixteen 20mm cannons and carried 86,000 pounds of bombs… in the name of peace.

What an irony that weapons of war were named Peacemaker. And despite all the bullets and bombs, peace eludes us still.

But true peace came to us on Good Friday. Today is the day of the Ultimate Peacemaker, for Christ Himself is our peace (Eph 2:14-17). Indeed, we were enemies of God, but by His death we were reconciled to God (Rom 5:10). For God was pleased to reconcile all things to Himself through Christ by making peace through the blood of His cross (Col 1:19-20). Staggering, isn’t it?

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for procuring our peace with God, costly as it was to You. We love You! Come quickly and bring full and lasting peace to this broken world.
