As citizens of the United States, freedom is one of our most precious possessions. Oppressed people the world over long to be afforded such privilege.
But American freedom pales in comparison to the Savior’s. Consider His emancipation. Contemplate His invitation. Calculate the cost. And let your heart sing for joy!
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me…
He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives…
to set free those who are downtrodden,
and to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” (Lk 4:18-19)
“Truly, truly I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. If, therefore, the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed!” (Jn 8:34, 36)
Through Jesus forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, (Acts 13:38-39)
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. (Rom 8:1-2)
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba, Father!” (Rom 8:15)
For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. (Rom 6:14)
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. (Gal 5:1)
You were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. (1 Pe 1:18-19)
Live as people who are free (1 Pe 2:16)
Every blessing, friend.
