There you have it! 2 dozen hot, glazed, Krispy Kreme donuts for $20 with ZERO regrets! Does it get any better?!?!

Do you get emails like this? Or do they just know my weakness?

In all actuality, I think each of us is bombarded with messages like this all the time! You can have what you crave without any regrets!

Deception at it’s finest, right? And yet we fall for it time and time again. In big and little ways. In ways that have minimal consequences, or in ways that will destroy us. In ways that might simply embarrass us, or in ways that harm others deeply.

The tempter’s tactics are to convince us that the repercussions will be negligible, if any. So go ahead!

But here’s what God says about temptation and the consequences:

Each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin,

and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. (James 1:14-15)

Death! What a harsh word! We much prefer the “zero regrets” messaging. And so we take another bite.

James continues: “Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.” (James 1:16)

May the Lord help us see temptation and deception for what they are!
