November 3rd is Emancipation Day for me. It’s the day I sold my towing company and was delivered from the bondage of owning it and running it. The stresses were profound. I had horrific, near-daily headaches. (And who knows the extent of damage from the constant use of pain-killers!) All those years “the sleep fled from my eyes,” to quote Jacob who referenced his own bondage under Laban (Gen 31:40). It may have been my towing company, but I did not feel like I was in charge—every one and every thing seemed to dictate what I did and when and how.
But on November 3, 1997, someone else assumed all those obligations and pressures! What’s more, they even paid me to take them from me. I was free! The headaches stopped the next day and I began to live again.
God has used that chapter of my life to remind me of my prior bondage to the prince of darkness—that cruel taskmaster under whom I was utterly and hopelessly enslaved. It was horrific. It was killing me in every way.
Until one day… when the Deliverer came! He assumed all the weight of my bondage. And He not only freed me, He also gave me a life! What’s more, He deposited to my account unimaginable wealth!
Our Global Impact Celebration begins this Sunday. We intend to celebrate the myriads of deliverances Christ has already procured. And to deepen our partnership with Him for the emancipation of those across the globe who are still enslaved in the dominion of darkness. Indeed, our chains may be gone, but many more are still enslaved. There’s work to do!
Please make every effort to be there!
