Some things never change! No matter how much we’d like them to. The same with people. We keep hoping and praying and waiting… for the other person to change! But a leopard can’t change his spots, can he? 1

So isn’t this an interesting comment: “Then it happened when Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed his heart.2 What we cannot do for ourselves or for others, God does easily!

I confess my prayer is almost always, “God, please change my circumstances!” But wouldn’t it be refreshing to the Lord if He heard me say instead, “God, please change my heart before You change my circumstances.”

What if I backed off trying to change the other person and redirected all that energy in prayer? “Lord, I really want this person to change! But I submit to Your plan to change their heart first, and to change it in Your time and in Your way.”

This stuff is HARD, isn’t it!

Heavenly Father, You made the Pleiades and Orion and You change deep darkness into morning.3 So change my heart, O God! Please do for me what I cannot do for myself.
