I am beyond thrilled to be a part of a church family that takes the Great Commission this seriously. My sincere thanks to each of you who sought the Lord over your part in our faith promise venture and determined to make His last command your first priority.
But I confess I’m nervous. With all the uncertainties and difficulties of these present days, how on earth are we going to actually do what we have promised the Lord? We’ve never gone this far out on the limb before. What if…? (Fill in any number of scenarios here.)
Thankfully, the burden is not ours. If the Lord laid on our hearts the faith promise amount we are to trust Him for, then the weight is on His shoulders. And to our trembling hearts the Comforter whispers encouragements like these from His Word:
- Do not fear! Stand still and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today. (Exod. 14:13)
- Do not be afraid any longer; only believe. (Mk 5:36)
- “Test me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” (Mal. 3:10)
- The bowl of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke through Elijah. (1 Ki. 17:16)
So now we watch and pray, for we walk by faith, not by sight.
