On pages 1, 2, and 3 in my Bible everything is humming along splendidly. What a wonderful, beautiful, glorious creation!
But just a mere page-turn away is the Great Tragedy. Enter decay, disease, drudgery, deformity, dissension, disorder… and death. “For in the day that you eat of it…”
The curse was (and is) dreadful. Yet in God’s mercy that was not the end of the story.
This Sunday during the 9:30 hour we will pause to contemplate—not the curse, but—the Curse-breaker. The Curse-taker. Because for those who are in Christ Jesus, there is now no condemnation! (Romans 8:1) Isn’t that amazing?!?
How can you prepare for our gathering? Please come with a Bible verse (or two or three!) that honors our Savior for taking the curse of our sin upon Himself. That celebrates Him for nullifying sin’s curse. We’ll have an opportunity to read those verses to each other and take part in a great chorus of praise to the Lord Jesus. This is how we will celebrate communion this week. I look forward to worshiping Him with you.
