Dear Woodland Hills Family,
The graph to the right expresses how things have been going in our economy for some time now. I think most of us have felt it first-hand in some way or another– job loss, pay cuts, reduced hours, devalued investments, and so on.
But the graph below expresses something that has been going on here at Woodland Hills over the last 12 months.
What is it? This is a representation of the sacrificial giving on the part of the Woodland Hills family. The blue indicates where our missions giving was a year ago; the pink shows the increase we experienced from the Faith Promise giving; and the green highlights your generosity and excess giving in sending out 3 short-term missions teams!
This would be amazing even in good times, but in the face of our present economy this is Wow!
It really amounts to nothing less than a God-thing: He put the desire to give in your hearts… You trusted Him to provide… He did… You gave it back to Him for His purposes… And eternity is different because of His faithfulness and your generosity!
To God be the glory!
And now here we are contemplating the year ahead and our giving to world missions. I wonder what God wants to do through us!
Are you asking God to guide you for your upcoming year’s faith promise? I sure am. I’ll admit I’m trembling a bit. But at the same time I’m thinking: A year from now I don’t want to be looking at a chart of how He provided so abundantly… and realize I didn’t play much of a part in it. I don’t want to have taken the safe & easy route while the rest of you lived on the faith-edge waiting for God to show up… I don’t want to lose out on 12 months of eternity-altering opportunity because I was too scared to step out in faith and trust God.
Perhaps as you contemplate all this you’re asking, “How will I know how much to write on my faith promise card?” My advice is to get alone with the Lord between now and Sunday and ask Him to reveal it to you: “Lord, how much do You want me to trust You to provide through me in the year ahead for the cause of spreading the Good News around the world?” If you approach Him with a sincere heart and are willing to do as He directs, you can be confident He will answer you.
See you at the GIC (Global Impact Celebration) this weekend!
