Losers

Losers

Isn’t it amazing how just one missing letter changes the entire meaning? (It appears the “c” has fallen down behind the “u.”)

I’ve titled this picture Food for Thought (pun intended on account of food and Burger King).

Food for thought, that is, about losers. And that’s what every single one of us is—unless Christ has saved us. Have you ever considered all the ways we were losers before Christ?

We were losers because we were sinners. As such, we stood condemned before God. Which meant we were losers in regard to forgiveness. And eternal life. And heaven.

We were losers because we kept on sinning, try as we might not to!

We were losers in our relationships. Our self-preoccupation drove us to hurt and abuse even those closest to us. Lies, jealousy, gossip, outbursts of anger…

We were losers when it came to our appetites and passions, which consistently ruled us, and often to our detriment.

And we could go on!

Unbelievably, it was for losers like you and me that the Savior came calling:

Follow Me!

Come to Me!

Are you thirsty and hungry? I’ll satisfy you!

Come inherit the Kingdom!

Who on earth does that?!? Thankfully, the Lord Jesus Christ does!
