Here are some quotes about prayer by some people whose names you probably recognize:

Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire? — Corrie ten Boom

Pray as if everything depended on God. Work as if everything depended on you. — St. Augustine

The more you pray, the less you’ll panic. The more you worship, the less you worry. — Rick Warren

We say that we believe God to be omniscient; yet a great deal of prayer seems to consist of giving Him information. — C.S. Lewis

On Sunday we will be examining one of the Apostle Paul’s prayers for some of his friends — people who were much like us. What do you suppose he asked God for? Was his prayer anything like the prayers we pray?

I keep coming back to the Timothy Keller quote I shared with you a few weeks ago: It’s remarkable that in all of his writings Paul’s prayers for his friends contain no appeals for changes in their circumstances.

I look forward to diving into God’s Word with you on Sunday. I hope to see you!
