As you probably know, we at Woodland Hills utilize the Faith Promise concept as the vehicle for our missions giving. May I share two general principles from Scripture that encourage me to be bold in making my faith-giving commitment?

  1. God multiplies seed for the farmer who is generous (2 Corinthians 9:8-11). When we are generous, God doesn’t just add to our seed supply, he multiplies it! Why? So we can be “generous on every occasion!”
  2. God rebukes the devourer (bugs, disease, etc.) for the farmer who trusts God by being obedient to give generously (Malachi 3:10-11). For us non-farmers the devourer may show up in the form of a broken down vehicle, a fridge that quits working, or a cut in work hours. If we trust God by giving generously, He holds back the devourer.

My personal experience has been that God waits to see me step out in obedient, trusting generosity before He multiplies seed and rebukes the devourer!

Friend, I am praying for you as you ask: Lord, what is the faith-stretching amount You want me to trust You to provide so that I can give generously to the cause of world missions in the coming year?
