pressing on

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us…

At this moment the entire world is captivated as 33 Chilean miners are being rescued from what was nearly their grave.  For sixty-nine days they’ve been entombed 2041 feet below the surface after 700,000 tons of rock collapsed around them.

But today each one arrives topside to an explosion of cheers.  Sobbing children, wives, and loved ones rush to embrace them.  Joyous Chileans watching by TV thrust their fists into the air.  Indeed, an entire world watches captivated.  Everyone’s cheering.

Doesn’t this fit the picture of Hebrews 12:1?  A massive, cheering crowd awaits our safe arrival.  Since they themselves have already made it, they know full well the “dangers, toils, and snares” we face.  Therefore, they yell the louder:  “You can make it!  Keep going!  Don’t quit!  Don’t give up!”

Do you hear them?  They’re cheering for you!

May their cries inspire you to press on today– to lay aside the things that encumber and entangle– and to hang on until your arrival at the top!  A wildly cheering crowd awaits you there.
By all means, do keep going!

Blessings,
Paul
